Begun in late 2024, this project explores the vulnerability of memory. It reflects on how real, poignant moments are often replaced by false desires, and on the pain of unfulfilled dreams and unrealized achievements. I express these emotions through materials such as sandpaper, glittering foil, and glass.
In this project, the mirror serves as a symbol of the anxiety that arises from the dissonance between reality and the imagined, desired events we long for.
Using various objects of remembrance—an old mirror, a bedside table drawer, crystal glasses—I also reflect on where memory chooses to focus, and what ultimately gives objects their value, much like the memories that accompany them.
